HI I'M WYNTON AND THIS IS ME:
'Mr Thackeray, it's so good to have you on the show! We've been hearing rave reviews of your latest film, can you tell us about it?'
Please, Wynton will do just fine, no one calls me Mr. Thackeray. And uh, yeah, the new film, well yeah, we- that's my crew and I- we were down in the south, that's the American south, mostly around New Orleans. We did all these interviews with musicians and they were all bloody brilliant. Life changing. I've always fancied myself a jazz and blues fan but bloody hell, being there, it's like a different world. And it's where I finally tracked down my copy of Charlie Parker's Bird Blows the Blues, I about cried when I got it. Brilliant record, absolutely brilliant. Drank myself silly to celebrate. But yeah the film, it's called The Night Before Last, it's good, it's really good. The musicians well all well genius, lots of history, good stories, good music, good food. What else can I say? Go see it. And we're all well proud of it, it's running at Cannes this year and some other festivals and we're picking up all kinds of awards and I'm just well proud of it.
'Good to hear! And what brings you to New York now?'
Well we were talking about the music thing, about other place with the music history and we got to talking about poetry and writing in music and one of my mates, he recommended me some books about the Harlem renaissance and then about music in New York today and I was just completely floored. There was the chance we were going to do this other film about a writer living down in Florida but that just went tits up so I started the research and here we are. Just starting work now, looking into musicians who will talk to us.
'What about that love life? You must meet so many women!'
Oh, haha, well.... I don't really have anything to say about this... I'm well busy, romance isn't exactly... You've seen the tabloids, I've had a few dates but nothing serious. Can we move on to the next question? I don't have much else to say to this.
'One last question and we'll let you go. Aside from the movies, what else have you been up to lately?'
Lots of things! I'm working on completing my Batman comic collection and- What? Yes, I know, I'm a nerd but anyone who doesn't love Batman is just dull. And the new movies are brilliant, I love them. The new comic book movies are all genius. What else? Mostly I work on the movie stuff. Trying to catch up on the video games I missed when I was working on The Night Before Last. And that's it!
